Dahmer 2002 review
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Seems competent at his job. JR is great at performing boyish awkwardness.
Spying on men as he walks through the store , looking at Mannequins. When he makes a beeline for a guy, There's this awkward shuffling and fiddling around with something. Dahmer never asks about age. He's a pedo predator, so for him, the younger, the better. This kid is savvy. He knows something is up.
  JR's Dahmer accent is fantastic.
Dahmer approaching boys for pictures. He's the creepy people that your parents warn you about when you are little. Don't do it kid! Jeff trying to drug the kid as soon as possible.....As soon as he said the words "Handsome guy" to a child, alarm bells!
Sitting and watching the kid start to fall asleep. Dahmer has like spider like behaviour. It's so creepy when he rocks his head back, the kid is completely out of it. The unbuckled jeans. The holes drilled through the head. Jeff was one sick sick dude. Trying to create Zombies
. The boy walking up to dead bodies.
The kid escaped! Now these women have got him.
  The cops are assholes.
These women are standing up for the kid and the cops are just being assholes. Jeff just has pedo written all over him and the cops just don't give a shit, but they do warn Jeff. However this boy doesn't look like an adult. This is just such negligence on their part. JR does of great job of showing how unhinged he is, he's so deadpan most of the time.
You know that he's going to let the crow out. Unlike his victims
He stays at Grandma's rent free! He needs to pay rent!
The nice way he dad confronted him about the mannequin lol. This version of Jeff is so pissed, I think it's mainly out of embarrassment. Now he knows the whole family thinks he's creepy.
He's like "It was just a prank"
Lionel his dad says "Do you still have it" His dad knows there is more to this. The chemistry box. Jeff fakes a "I want my privacy tantrum" to get out of it. Bruce and Jeremy’s chemistry and acting in this is amazing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Jeff meets Rodney, I don't know whether he's generally amused by him, or playing along. This is his next victim. The cousin knows something is off with Jeff.
I like the way these flashbacks are brought in.
Drugging and abusing guys to the track of "more more more" is genius. He gets sloppy. The bartender sees him spiking a drink and they kick him out. This bartender has more sense than the cops!
Look at Jeff playing hard to get! JR's jeff voice is so on point. In this film I completely get why guys would go home with him. He is deadpan but JR plays him with a spark of charisma as well. Rodney are you going to drink a drink that you don't even like, just to impress this stranger!
Flashback
His Dad is leaving, going to a hotel. Splitting up with his mother Joyce. Jeff has a lot of repressed anger about it.
  Sarcasm, being rude. Defence mechanism?
His mother, gives him 50 bucks to take care of himself. Okay just 50 bucks!!!! when she finally leaves the family home. She's taking Jeff's brother too. So that leaves him alone. Notice that 50 bucks is also what he offers his victims most of the time.
I can totally see Teen Jeff telling dudes that his parents were dead just for a joke.
Handcuffs, this script is great, there is chemistry between Jeff and Rodney
Flashback
. Whats' with this hitchiker [called Lance] he is and eating everything out of the container or bottle.
This wrestling scene was great. I thought Jeff would enjoy an attractive guy ragdolling him, he didn't lol! He's trying to shift his first victim's mind on sexuality and its not going to  work. This Lance guy is straight as a board.
Jeff acts even more weird, the guy tries to leave.
They argue and Jeff tries to strangle him, the dude fights him off, runs to the door, but the blond attacks him with a barbell.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to Dahmer who's abusing the kid that he killed earlier.
Rodney you idiot, you escaped!!! Why are you back?
Who the fuck willingly goes back alone to their attacker???
This makes no sense. You think Jeff, the guy who handcuffed you is now gonna give you money????
  What?????
All the buses are gone but can't he call his friend or his cousin for a lift??? I would have slept at the bus stop honestly. No way would I go back to my attackers house.
Jeffery is projecting, but Rodney you need to get out of there.
Drinking to help with cutting people up. He was alcoholic in his teens, Where were his parents????
More projection from Jeffrey and this script does mention race! Hooray!
Rodney you've lost your mind! Declaring your love! You're both crazy!
Flashback
Stopped by the police with his "Steven" in the trunk. He's swerving drunk. And he DOES NOT  get arrested????? White privilege...............
How does the officer not smell the blood and guts in those bags???
Present    Jeff flat out tells him the truth that he's a perverted murderer and Rodney thinks he's joking. This dude that escaped really came back and is trying to seduce Jeff....I can't.....
JR is superb at performing Jeff's akwardness. It's amazing how he moves.
He tries to kill Rodney, but doesn’t.
Rodney escapes and  puts a stone through his window.
----------------------------------------------------------------   Flashback  His dad recommends therapy. Takes his there, drops him off, but he skips it.
The end.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Great script.
Rodney wasn't dangerous, but he was just a crazy as Jeff in some ways. I do think Jeff genuinely liked him though. If the dead teen hadn't have been there, who knows what could have happened? They could have dated  for a while????
------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Artel Great, who played Rodney, Matt newton who played lance, were great in their roles. The script was great.
Bruce Davidson stole every scene that he was in, as a neglectful dad who really did try
Jeremy Renner was amazing as Jeff. His body language. His general weirdness.  His odd charm, his rudeness, his alcoholism, his hopelessness his perversions. He did an amazing job, at performing the actions of a guy who was way too evil to be saved.
